In this creative workshop, scouts will explore the wonders of autumn through mixed media…creating leaf prints & rubbings and a beautiful nature “assemblage” wall plaque. Scouts will also mix up a batch of “bird pudding” for a classic pine cone feeder.

Inspired by the art of the FAITH RINGGOLD (AUTHOR OF CHILDREN’S BOOK “TAR BEACH”), scouts will create a family portrait in watercolor… celebrating “family time”. A lesson in color mixing will be presented and artists will be encouraged to use color expressively and symbolically. A variety of textiles will be used to design a beautiful fabric collage mat to frame their masterpiece.
WOLF:
BE AN ARTIST
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12 4:30-6:00 (REGISTER BY 11/4)

Drawing from a still life, artists will create contour line drawings. Participants will be instructed in the use of the color wheel and will apply their knowledge of color theory to a watercolor painting with a geometric shape composition. Each scout will design a stenciled greeting card. Works by Klee will be featured.
BEAR:
ELECTIVE 9 ART
SATURDAY November 19 4:30-6:30 (REGISTER BY 11/11)

Scouts will learn about various materials/techniques used to create art… sculpture, painting, collage and mosaic. Works of art by Calder, Kandinsky & Duchamp will be presented as inspiration for wire sculptures, abstract watercolor painting and design “by chance”. Natural materials will be used in the creation of a seed/bean mosaic wall plaque.

SATURDAY JANUARY 7 10:00-12:00 (REGISTER BY 12/23)

In this creative workshop, scouts will explore art in several forms… drawing, painting, collage and sculpture and experiment in a variety of professional media. All creative techniques will be demonstrated and famous works of art will be presented as inspiration. The workshop will begin with a lesson in color theory and the use of the color wheel. Scouts will have their choice of drawing media for the creation of a still life. Pastel will be used for an “impressionist’ landscape painting and watercolor/acrylic inks will be used for an abstract painting. A variety of designer papers will be offered for collage and wood, wire & clay will be offered.
BOYSCOUT:
ART MERIT BADGE
SATURDAY JANUARY 7 2:00-5:00 (REGISTER BY 12/23)

A fun & creative 3 hour art workshop designed to meet all the requirements of the Art Merit Badge. Scouts will create an illustration inspired by a either a song lyric or line of poetry in their drawing media of choice. The illustrative process will be discussed in detail… from thumbnail sketch to finished piece. They will be challenged to create a new logo concept for TNAC, following specific criteria. Working from both direct observation & photo reference, scouts will complete (4) works of art in (4) different media… watercolor, pastel, acrylic and pen & ink. Topics of discussion will include color theory, creative inspiration, art as a means of expression/communication, careers in art and critique of famous works of art.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED. SPACE IS LIMITED TO 24 SCOUTS/WORKSHOP.
